Dominic Stricker vs Casper Ruud prediction

It has been a relatively average season for Dominic Stricker, who has largely been playing on the Challenger Tour this year.

He has been handed a golden opportunity in his native Switzerland this week with a wildcard, but he faces a tough opening match against Norway’s Casper Ruud.

The pair have actually met twice before, including at this tournament back in 2023, when Stricker won in a deciding third set. Ruud avenged that loss in 2025, also in Switzerland, with a straight-sets win on outdoor clay in Gstaad.

Ruud is coming off a strong performance at the Shanghai Masters, where he reached the quarter-finals before losing to Rafael Jodar in three sets, and he will take plenty of confidence from those performances.

He will hope to follow that up here against a highly motivated Stricker, but it would be no surprise if this one went the distance as well, and that is our pick rather than backing the somewhat inconsistent Ruud.
