SOUTHERN VIPERS
- Southern Vipers did not get chance to bounce back from their heart-breaking defeat against Western Storm as their game with Surrey Stars was washed out without a single ball being bowled.
- The Vipers would have been keen to get back on the field following the three-wicket loss to the Storm as their total was chased down with just one ball remaining but it was not to be because of the weather.
- They will now turn their attention to hosting Lancashire Thunder who are yet to win a game in this year’s competition where Stafanie Taylor will be integral to her side’s chances after notching scores of 40, 38 and 44* so far.
LANCASHIRE THUNDER
- Lancashire Thunder’s miserable start to the Women’s Super League continued as they lost their Roses clash with Yorkshire Diamonds in what was their fourth consecutive loss to begin this year’s competition.
- The Diamonds got off to a strong start with the bat and were able to post 151/6 from their 20 overs and despite some decent scoring from the middle order, Thunder fell nine runs short as they were bowled out for 142.
- Sune Luus finally bowled for the first time in the competition but she was only given one over and Lancashire will surely utilise her more going forward whilst Harmanpreet Kaur will hope to continue her good form with the bat.
THE PREDICTION
Southern Vipers will have had several more days than anticipated to mull over their narrow defeat to Western Storm following the abandonment of their game with Surrey Stars. They now host a Lancashire Thunder side who have lost all four games to start this campaign. Lancashire almost earned their first win against Yorkshire but their run chase fell short and with the pressure building on them to break their duck, they might find it too much to deal with which can help the home side edge this.
