Cremonese preview: Brilliant start for Cremonese
On the opening day of the 2025/26 Serie A season, Cremonese pulled off a shock 2-1 defeat of AC Milan at San Siro. Federico Baschirotto and Federico Bonazzoli scored the goals for the Lombardians, either side of a Strahinja Pavlovic equaliser for Milan.
In the aftermath of their shock victory at the Giuseppe Meeazza, Cremonese have now been linked with a move for former England international striker Jamie Vardy. They are under the management of Serie A’s so-called ‘miracle worker’ Davide Nicola.
Sassuolo preview: Solid but found it tough
Sassuolo come into this one on the back of a 2-0 loss to reigning champions on the opening day of the season at the Mapei Stadium last weekend. Antonio Conte’s side cruised to a comfortable victory in that game with, albeit Sassuolo made it difficult.
Sassuolo kept the score down and, coached by Fabio Grosso, will be aware that they will be targeting other matches in order to avoid an immediate return to Serie B this season. They did begin their season with a win over Catanzaro in the Coppa Italia.

Questionable: Skjellerup (Injured)
Cremonese vs Sassuolo prediction
Davide Nicola is known for managing to get teams to stay up against the odds, but usually when he joins them mid-way through a season. This time around, though, Cremonese have got themselves off to a flying start as they welcome a Sassuolo side reeling from a loss on the opening day. Cremonese have a brilliant chance to secure back-to-back victories with this Lombardy derby, but Sassuolo will also fancy themselves to get off the mark in Serie A.
Cremonese vs Sassuolo tip: Double chance – Sassuolo to win or draw
