Coco Gauff vs Elena Rybakina prediction
Coco Gauff came back from the brink in the US Open quarter-finals as she saved two match points before mounting a comeback to defeat Mirra Andreeva. Gauff was out of sorts for much of the first two sets, but she extended the contest after winning the second on a tiebreak. Andreeva fell away in the decider as the world number four took control, winning 2-6 7-6 (7) 6-2. The 22-year-old is now on a 11-match winning streak, following her success at the Cincinnati Open.
She will face Elena Rybakina for a place in the final. The Kazakh secured the world number one ranking for the first time in her career, also recovering from a set down to beat qualifier Qinwen Zheng. Rybakina needed to save a break point in the final set, eventually winning 3-6 6-1 6-4.
The head-to-head is locked at 1-1 between the pair. They faced each other for the first time in four years just last month at the Canadian Open, with Rybakina coming from a set down to win. Gauff will have plenty of home support on her side once again, but she will have to significantly improve upon her quarter-final display if she is to reach a second US Open final.
