Shao Jiayi and his Chinese side come into this one on the back of a goalless draw with Thailand in their most recent outing, a few days after a 2-1 win against Singapore in June. China have lost just two, against Japan and Korea Republic, in their last six matches.
The Maldives are among the weakest teams in international football and that was shown again over the summer as they were eased past by the likes of fellow international football minnows Pakistan and Afghanistan without scoring.
China will be expected to come out on top here and they should do with a clean sheet, too, especially with their home advantage.
