Celta Vigo preview: Slow start for the Galicians

Celta Vigo come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Real Betis at Balaidos in Galicia in midweek. Marc Bartra gave Betis a first-half lead before the break, before Hugo Alvarez equalised for Celta early on in the second-half.

They finished seventh and qualified for the UEFA Europa League last season, under the management of former B team coach Claudio Giraldez. They have an entertaining team, but have started the season quite slowly.

Villarreal preview: Entertaining Villarreal

Villarreal come into this one on the back of a brilliant start to the campaign with former Olympique de Marseille and Valencia boss Marcelino expected to oversee a push for the top four once again this year, and they will continue to dream of even more than that.

The Yellow Submarine began their campaign with a comfortable 2-0 defeat of newly-promoted Real Oviedo at El Madrigal, before they then dispatched of a hapless Girona side by five goals to nil in Castellon last weekend.

Celta Vigo team news: A few still out

Ahead of the visit of Villarreal to Galicia this weekend, Celta Vigo have a few confirmed absentees for this one, such as defensive duo Joseph Aidoo and Carl Starfelt, as well as Franco Cervi.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Radu; Javi Rodriguez, Marcos Alonso, Ristic; Oscar Mingueza, Hugo Sotelo, Ilaix Moriba, Hugo Alvarez; Pablo Duran, Swedberg; Borja Iglesias

Unavailable: Aidoo (Injured), Starfelt (Injured), Cervi (Injured)

Questionable:

Villarreal team news: A few injuries

Villarreal are dealing with a few injury issues for this weekend as centre-backs Logan Costa and Willy Kambwala are sidelined, whilst Ayoze Perez is a doubt, too.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Junior; Santiano Mourino, Foyth, Rafa Marin, Sergi Cardona; Buchanan, Santi Comesana, Gueye, Akhomach; Pepe, Etta Eyong

Unavailable: Costa (Injured), Kambwala (Injured), Gerard (Injured), Pau Cabanes (Injured)

Questionable: Ayoze (Injured)

Celta Vigo vs Villarreal prediction

Claudio Giraldez and Celta Vigo play an entertaining style of football and now that they are beginning to find some fluency and form with the season underway, they will be expected to get on the front foot at Balaidos. They face a Villarreal side that can be proactive and reactive in their approach, and so they remain a threat at all times in a variety of circumstances, and so both teams scoring would appear a good bet for this one.

Celta Vigo vs Villarreal tip: Both teams to score
