Celta Vigo preview: Entertaining Galicians

With former B team coach Claudio Giraldez at the helm, Celta Vigo have been brilliant in the last season and a bit or so, with a much more attacking style of football that actually saw the Galicians clamber into the top seven last season.

With the UEFA Europa League beckoning for Celta, they have made some interesting signings for the attack, too, with Fer Lopez leaving for Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Ferran Jutgla and Bryan Zaragoza being brought in to Balaidos this season.

Getafe preview: Steady Getafe

Getafe have a hostile and aggressive style of football that has been successful for them, relatively, with Jose Bordalas at the helm, as their narrow and shallow squad manages to punch above its weight to ensure it rarely gets dragged into a relegation battle.

So far this summer, the Madrid-based outfit have actually had quite a busy summer transfer window. Kiko Femenia, formerly of Watford, is among those to have moved to the Coliseum alongside Abdel Abqar, Mario Martin, Yvan Neyou and Javi Munoz.

Celta Vigo team news: Plenty of doubts

Celta’s five new signings, Ionut Radu, Ilaix Moriba, Bryan Zaragoza, Borja Iglesias and Ferran Jutgla are yet to be eligible to play for Celta this weekend as they face Getafe.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Ivan Villar; Starfelt, Carlos Dominguez, Marcos Alonso; Oscar Mingueza, Fran Beltran, Hugo Sotelo, Ristic; Iago Aspas, Borja Iglesias, Hugo Alvarez

Unavailable:

Questionable: Radu (Ineligible), Javi Rodriguez (Injured),Aidoo (Injured), Ilaix Moriba (Ineligible), Cervi (Injured), Swedberg (Injured), Pablo Duran (Injured), Bryan Zaragoza (Ineligible), Borja Iglesias (Ineligible), Ferran Jutgla (Ineligible)

Getafe team news: Couple of suspensions

Getafe have a couple of key suspensions ahead of the visit to Balaidos this weekend as Domingos Duarte is expected to be sidelined alongside attacker Alex Sancris.

Predicted XI (3-5-1-1): David Soria; Djene, Abqar, Juan Iglesias; Kiko Femenia, Javi Munoz, Peter, Mauro Arambarri, Diego Rico; Uche; Borja Mayoral

Unavailable: Domingos Duarte (Suspended), Alex Sancris (Suspended)

Questionable: Juanmi (Injured)

Celta Vigo vs Getafe prediction

Claudio Giraldez produced one of the most entertaining teams in Spain last season. That could take a hit as they balance European football alongside domestic football this year, but for the time being they should remain good to watch. They take on a Getafe side that could well be circling the drain because there is surely only so long that Jose Bordalas’ style can be effective for. As a result, siding with Celta seems the way to go for this one.
