Cagliari preview: Steadying Sardinians
Cagliari come into this one on the back of an impressive 2-1 defeat of an improving Fiorentina side at Stadio Artemio Franchi in Florence last weekend, courtesy of goals scored by Semih Kilicsoy and Marco Palestra.
That victory against I Viola backed up a famous win against Juventus out on the island of Sardinia the week before. Those two victories for Fabio Pisacane has helped Cagliari to push themselves towards the middle-of-the-table in Serie A.
Hellas Verona preview: Struggling Verona
Hellas Verona have still decided to stick by Paolo Zanetti, despite their woeful form throughout the campaign. They have managed just two victories in their 22 matches as they sit four points adrift of safety, having narrowly survived last season.
Verona come into this one on the back of a 3-1 defeat at home to Udinese at the Marcantonio Bentegodi last weekend in the Beneto. Verona had started well in that game but were eventually easily and fairly beaten in the second-half.
Cagliari team news: Deiola working his way back
Centre-back Alessandro Deiola is working his way back to full fitness but they have confirmed experienced absentees, such as both Michael Folorunsho and Andrea Belotti.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Caprile; Ze Pedro, Yerry Mina, Luperto; Palestra, Adopo, Gaetano, Mazzitelli, Obert; Kilicsoy, Esposito
Unavailable: Folorunsho (Injured), Felici (Injured), Belotti (Injured)
Questionable: Deiola (Injured)
Hellas Verona team news: A few doubts
Verona head to Cagliari with a few key injury doubts for this one, such as defenders Armel Bella-Kotchap and Nicolas Valentini, as well as striker Daniel Mosquera.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Perilli; Slotsager, Nelsson, Ebosse; Lirola, Serdar, Gagliardini, Bernede, Bradaric; Orban, Sarr
Unavailable: Belghali (Injured), Akpa Akpro (Injured), Suslov (Injured)
Questionable: Bella-Kotchap (Injured), Valentini (Injured), Frese (Injured), Daniel Mosquera (Injured)
Cagliari vs Hellas Verona prediction
Fabio Pisacane is getting Cagliari to play some intriguing and impressive football, which works best when on the counter-attack, perhaps explaining why they managed to defeat both Juventus and Fiorentina in recent weeks. Hellas Verona aren’t going to afford them that kind of space and so backing a win either way is risky but a low-scoring clash does seem extremely likely for this one on Saturday night.
Cagliari vs Hellas Verona tip: Under 2.5 goals
