Cagliari preview: Struggling Sardinians

Cagliari begin the 32nd match day of the campaign sitting 16th in the table but just three points ahead of the bottom three and the relegation places after a woeful recent run of form either side of the March international break.

The Sardinians returned from that break last weekend by succumbing to a 2-1 defeat to mid-table Sassuolo due to goals scored by Ulisses Garcia and Andrea Pinamonti after Cagliari had a half-time lead.

Cremonese preview: In a fight

Cremonese are one of the two teams that sit three points behind Cagliari in the table with the Lombardy-based outfit sitting just outside of the danger zone on goal difference, ahead of a poor Lecce side.

Cremonese, with former AC Milan boss Marco Giampaolo at the helm, suffered their own 2-1 defeat last weekend as Bologna raced into an early two-goal lead before eventually holding on for three points at Stadio Giovanni Zini in Cremona.

Cagliari team news: Pavoletti a doubt

Cagliari striker Leonardo Pavoletti is a doubt for Cagliari this weekend, with the Sardinians also dealing woth absentees such as Riyad Idrissi and Mattia Felici.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Caprile; Ze Pedro, Yerry Mina, Zappa; Palestra, Adopo, Deiola, Gaetano, Obert; Esposito, Folorunsho

Unavailable: Idrissi (Injured), Felici (Injured)

Questionable: Pavoletti (Injured)

Cremonese team news: Maleh suspended

Versatile midfielder Yousef Maleh is missing through suspension for Cremonese this weekend, with fresh injury concerns including midfielder Morten Thorsby and experienced striker Jamie Vardy.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Audero; Terracciano, Bianchetti, Luperto, Pezzella; Zerbin, Payero, Grassi, Vandeputte; Djuric, Bonazzoli

Unavailable: Maleh (Suspended), Moumbagna (Injured), Tonny Sanabria (Injured)

Questionable: Thorsby (Injured), Collocolo (Injured), Vardy (Inijured)

Cagliari vs Cremonese prediction

These are two sides that lack quality, especially in the final third. They are also two teams that have been in woeful form for some time and, while a victory for either will give them a brilliant opportunity of finally pushing themselves clear, there is an expectation that neither are able to take the initiative and both will be fighting until the very end. That lack of quality and the strong nerves and tension that will be on display should mean that a low-scoring encounter is in store for this weekend.

Cagliari vs Cremonese tip: Under 2.5 goals
