The Scott Parker ‘derby’, so to speak, is an imperative and must win clash for Burnley as the struggling Lancastrians welcome his former side Fulham to Turf Moor.

Burnley preview: Struggling Burnley

Burnley began the season appearing to be fairly competitive but the hosts sit firmly in the bottom three and the relegation places after a woeful run of form whereby they have now suffered six successive defeats in the Premier League.

The Clarets suffered a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United at St James’ Park last weekend in a game in which Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon scored either side of a Lucas Pires red card before a late consolation penalty scored by Zian Flemming.

Fulham preview: Frustrated Fulham

Marco Silva’s Fulham are continuing to worry about what is just behind them after a recent improved run of form has been followed by a 5-4 loss to Manchester City and then a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, both at Craven Cottage.

The Cottagers do have a fair bit of depth in the final third and they will be reliant upon that in a game whereby the opposition will simply seek to limit any fluency or intent from the away team.

Burnley team news: Several suspensions

Democratic Republic of Congo international centre-back Axel Tuanzebe remains unavailable for the hosts due to injury, albeit he is nearing a return. He is sidelined alongside longer-term absentees such as Jordan Beyer, Connor Roberts and Zeki Amdouni.

Frustratingly, the Clarets are now also dealing with several suspensions as full-back duo Lucas Pires and Kyle Walker remain unavailable alongside Tunisia international midfielder Hannibal Mejbri.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Dubravka; Laurent, Ekdal, Esteve, Hartman; Ugochukwu, Cullen, Luis; Anthony, Flemming, Foster

Unavailable: Tuanzebe (Injured), Humphreys (Injured), Beyer (Injured), Roberts (Injured), Amdouni (Injured)

Questionable: Pires (Suspended), Walker (Suspended), Mejbri (Suspended)

Fulham team news: Sessegnon out

Frustratingly for Fulham, former Tottenham Hotspur left-back Ryan Sessegnon remains sidelined for this weekend as he is dealing with a hamstring injury. Fellow left-back Antonee Robinson also remains a major doubt.

Up-front, Brazilian striker Rodrigo Muniz is out, with pressure on Raul Jimenez due to his poor form. It could well be that Fulham seek to use a more technical approach in attack with Josh King perhaps used as a so-called 'false nine'.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Castagne; Iwobi, Berge; Wilson, Smith Rowe, Kevin; King

Unavailable: Sessegnon (Injured), Muniz (Injured)

Questionable: Robinson (Injured)

Burnley vs Fulham prediction

Fulham will head to Lancashire needing to use all of their attacking quality and the abundance of talent that they have, and the variety therein such as the pace and directness of Harry Wilson and Samu Chukwueze, as well as the intricacy of Kevin, Emile Smith Rowe and Josh King. They will need to be patient to stretch a limited and fairly dull Burnley side but they should eventually come out on top.

Burnley vs Fulham tip: Fulham to win & under 3.5 goals
