Brighton preview: Back-to-back defeats

Brighton recently embarked upon a five-game unbeaten run in all competitions but that was ended last weekend by in-form Man Utd, who won 4-2 at Old Trafford to leave the Seagulls in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Fabian Hurzeler's side then bowed out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday, losing 2-0 to Arsenal in their fourth-round clash.

Leeds preview: Clear of danger

Leeds recorded their third win of the Premier League campaign last Friday with goals from Brenden Aaronson and Joe Rodon helping them to a 2-1 victory over struggling West Ham at Elland Road.

With a healthy six-point buffer between themselves and the relegation zone heading into the weekend, Daniel Farke's men are only a point behind hosts Brighton ahead of this fixture.

Brighton team news: Returnees unlikely

It appears as if Joel Veltman, Brajan Gruda and Kaoru Mitoma will miss out again although Hurzeler did that there was an outside chance of some players returning to the fold.

James Milner is also a doubt with a muscle complaint while Adam Webster, Jack Hinshelwood and Solly March are definite absentees.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Wieffer, Van Hecke, Dunk, De Cuyper; Baleba, Ayari; Minteh, Rutter, Gomez; Welbeck

Unavailable: Webster (Injured), Hinshelwood (Injured), March (Injured)

Questionable: Veltman (Fitness), Milner (Injured), Gruda (Fitness), Mitoma (Fitness)

Leeds team news: Very few problems

Gabriel Gudmundsson is fit and available according to Farke, with the knock he sustained against West Ham just a bruise.

The Leeds boss may include Wilfried Gnonto in the travelling squad should he deem him fit enough, which leaves only Harry Gray as an injury absentee.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Darlow; Bogle, Rodon, Bijol, Gudmundsson; Longstaff, Ampadu, Tanaka; Aaronson, Calvert-Lewin, Okafor

Unavailable: Gray (Injured)

Questionable: Gnonto (Fitness)

Brighton vs Leeds prediction

Brighton have endured a couple of tough fixtures of late but will be targeting this fixture against a promoted side as one to get back to winning ways.

That will be easier said than done though, as Leeds have been picking up points fairly regularly so far and they certainly look like they belong in the division, in contrast to some of the promoted teams we have seen in previous seasons.

Of those occupying the bottom half of the table, no team has scored more than Brighton's 14 this season, but they haven't exactly been watertight at the back either with 15 goals conceded across their first nine contests. Against a Leeds side who have competing well right now, both teams can be expected to score.

Brighton vs Leeds tip: Both teams to score
