Brighton preview: Inconsistent Seagulls

Brighton and Hove Albion are known for being a very inconsistent team and a side that supporters have grown immensely frustrated with but Fabian Hurzeler’s side have begun to find some of their good form in recent weeks.

The Seagulls come into this one on the back of a 2-1 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford in the third round of the FA Cup, courtesy of goals from Brajan Gruda and Danny Welbeck.

Bournemouth preview: Much-needed win

AFC Bournemouth had been enduring an 11-match winless run of form until the Cherries dramatically defeated Tottenham Hotspur by three goals to two, courtesy of a late Antoine Semenyo winning goal.

The Ghana international has since departed for Manchester City in a big money move and Bournemouth, yet to replace, most recently suffered a penalty shootout loss to Newcastle United after a thrilling draw in the cup last week.

Brighton team news: Minteh an option

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has said that Gambia international attacker Yankuba Minteh is an 'option' for Monday, having been dealing with a dead leg.

Cameroon international midfielder Carlos Baleba has returned from the CAF Africa Cup of Nations but there are still long-term absentees, such as Adam Webster and Solly March.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Veltman, Van Hecke, Dunk, Kadioglu; Hinshelwood, Ayari; Minteh, Rutter, Mitoma; Welbeck

Unavailable: Webster (Injured), Wieffer (Injured), March (Injured), Tzimas (Injured)

Questionable:

Bournemouth team news: Christie could return

In his pre-match press conference, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has confirmed that Scotland international midfielder Ryan Christie could return to full fitness for this one.

David Brooks will have to be assessed after twisting his ankle against Newcastle, while fellow attackers Justin Kluivert and Ben Gannon Doak are confirmed absentees.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Petrovic; Jimenez, Hill, Senesi, Truffert; Scott, Cook; Tavernier Adli, Kroupi, Tavernier; Evanilson

Unavailable: Dennis (Injured), Milosavljevic (Injured), Akinmobi (Injured), Adams (Injured), Kluivert (Injured), Gannon Doak (Injured), Unal (Injured)

Questionable: Christie (Injured), Brooks (Injured)

Brighton vs Bournemouth prediction

These are two of the more proactive teams to watch in the Premier League with Brighton seeking to dominate the opposition with the ball and Bournemouth looking to swarm any side via an intensity in their pressing. Brighton can often be a bit too deliberate and get caught out, especially at home, while their desire for the ball may well play into the hands of the visitors, too, so siding with the away team to continue around the corner that they may well have now turned would appear the way to go for this one.

Brighton vs Bournemouth tip: Double chance – Bournemouth to win or draw
