Brest preview: Regressed Brest
Having overperformed in each of the last couple of seasons, Stade Brest have had to deal with a natural regression over the summer and they have started the 2025/26 Ligue 1 campaign by collecting just one point from their opening four matches.
The home team come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to newly-promoted Paris last weekend in a game in which the Parisiens had gone down to ten men late on due to an 84th minute red card for former Porto centre-back Otavio.
Nice preview: Off-field issues
INEOS have made it clear that their primary focus on Manchester United and they have intimated they aren’t too fussed about Nice. They remain in their control, though, and their squad appears quite depleted for this season.
Still coached by the impressive Lucien Faivre, though, the southerners have started the season with two victories and two defeats in Ligue 1 after being knocked out in the UEFA Champions League playoffs by an average Benfica side last month.
Brest team news: Majecki suspended
Brest will be without goalkeeper Radoslaw Majecki due to suspension for this one. They also have some key injury doubts, too, such as midfielder Lucas Tousart and attacker Mama Balde.
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Coudert; Lala, Chardonnet, Diaz, Locko; Doumbia, Chotard, Makalou; Del Castillo, Ajorque, Lascary
Unavailable: Majecki (Suspended)
Questionable: Tousart (Injured), Balde (Injured)
Nice team news: A few injuries
Nice have a few injury issues for this one as defensive duo Mohamed Abdelmonem and Youssouf Ndayishimiye are confirmed absentees, whilst both Tanguy Ndombele and Mohamed-Ali Cho are doubts.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Diouf; Peprah Oppong, Juma Bah, Dante; Clauss, Boudaoui, Vanhoutte, Bard; Diop, Boga; Omoruyi Benjamin
Unavailable: Abdelmonem (Injured), Ndayishimiye (Injured)
Questionable: Coulibaly (Injured), Ndombele (Injured), Cho (Injured)
Brest vs Nice prediction
There has been a growing concern in recent times that Brest’s performance level has been naturally dipping and their overachievement was actually fairly fortunate. They now have a real test to prove that is not the case this season. Nice will head to Brest without much fluency or cohesion, but they have a good coach that is managing to ensure they are difficult to play against, and siding with the southerners appears the way to go for this one.
Brest vs Nice tip: Nice to win & under 3.5 goals
