Brentford took a gamble over the summer and there may now be signs of it faltering as the Bees welcome Manchester United to the Gtech Community Stadium this weekend.

Brentford preview: Bees need to show intensity

After the departure of manager Thomas Frank to Tottenham Hotspur and the sales of Mark Flekken, Christian Norgaard, Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo; Brentford gambled on the appointment of former set-piece coach Keith Andrews.

The former Ireland international midfielder has perhaps surprised some by Brentford performances not being really poor, but the Bees are lacking efficiency and effectiveness at either end with just one win in their opening five matches so far.

Man Utd preview: Much-needed victory

Ruben Amorim got himself some respite last weekend as Manchester United took advantage of Robert Sanchez being sent off early on for Chelsea, with the Red Devils recording a much-needed 2-1 defeat of the Blues at Old Trafford.

Performances were improved for United last month, despite many perceiving it as a calamitous start to the campaign which included a penalty shootout loss to League Two side Grimsby Town in the second round of the EFL Cup.

Brentford team news: Nelson a doubt

It has been revealed that Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson will have to be considered a doubt for this one with the former Fulham winger set to be assessed prior to the visit of United.

The Bees have just two confirmed absentees for the time being, Paris Maghoma and Gustavo Nunes, with both players remaining sidelined for this weekend.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Kelleher; Van den Berg, Ajer, Collins; Hickey, Henderson, Yarmolyuk, Henry; Lewis-Potter, Thiago, Schade

Unavailable: Maghoma (Injured), Nunes (Injured)

Questionable: Nelson (Fitness)

Man Utd team news: Casemiro suspended

In his pre-match press conference, Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Amad Diallo will miss the trip to London as he deals with a family bereavement.

As well as the absence of Amad, United will also be without Casemiro, who is missing through suspension, whilst Noussair Mazraoui has also been ruled out until after the October international break.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Bayindir; Yoro, De Ligt, Maguire; Dorgu, Ugarte, Fernandes, Shaw; Mbeumo, Cunha; Sesko

Unavailable: Martinez (Injured), Dalot (Injured), Mazraoui (Injured), Casemiro (Suspended), Amad (Personal reasons)

Questionable:

Brentford vs Man Utd prediction

Brentford have had some brilliant performances against Manchester United in recent years, with the Bees getting themselves on the front foot and swarming United on regular occasions with an intense press. There are concerns that Brentford now can’t and won’t play with that level of intensity and sophistication under Andrews, and siding with United may well actually be quite a good value bet for this one in west London.
