Bolivia have slim hopes of making the play-off spot in CONMEBOL qualifying, but the considerable hurdle of Brazil is likely to thwart their dreams of a first FIFA World Cup since 1994.

  • Brazil have lost only one of their last nine World Cup qualifying matches (W5 D3).

Bolivia vs Brazil prediction

The situation is clear – albeit daunting – for Bolivia; they must defeat the mighty Brazil in order to finish in the inter-confederation play-off spot, and even then they must rely on Venezuela – one point above them – failing to beat Colombia at home.

This is of course an uphill task, but they do at least have home advantage in their favour, with the high altitude of El Alto offering a genuine challenge to visiting nations.

Still undefeated under Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil eased to a 3-0 victory over Chile in their penultimate qualifier, with teenage sensation Estevao scoring his first goal in national colours amongst strikes from fellow Premier League pair Lucas Paqueta and Bruno Guimaraes.

Having just faced Argentina in Lionel Messi’s last ever home qualifier, this is hardly an ideal fixture run for Bolivia to pull of a miracle, and the likelihood is that they will come up short against their more talented opponents.

The altitude could play a role though, with a low-scoring Brazil victory perhaps the most likely scenario.
