Augsburg preview: Mid-table Augsburg

Augsburg begin this weekend's round of fixtures sitting firmly in mid-table. They are also in indifferent form and 'on the beach' so to speak as they coast towards the end of the Bundesliga season.

They returned from the March international break by being pegged back to a 1-1 draw in the second-half by fellow mid-table outfit Hamburg in their most recent outing at the Volksparkstadion last weekend.

Hoffenheim preview: Frustrated Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim remain in the hunt for a top four finish and potential UEFA Champions League qualification, under the management of former Sturm Graz boss Christian Ilzer.

The visitors have been in shaky form for a while now, though, and that continued last weekend as they returned from the break by succumbing to a 2-1 defeat at home to Mainz at the PreZero Arena.

Augsburg team news: Schlotterbeck suspended

Versatile defender Keven Schlotterbeck is missing through suspension for Augsburg this weekend, while Chrislain Matsima is a longer-term absentee alongside Yannik Keitel, due to injury.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Dahmen; Chaves, Gouweleeuw, Zesiger; Wolf, Fellhauer, Rieder, Giannoulis; Kade, Claude-Maurice; Gregoritsch

Unavailable: Matsima (Injured), Schlotterbeck (Suspended), Keitel (Injured)

Questionable:

Hoffenheim team news: Burger suspended

Former Stoke City midfielder Wouter Burger is missing through suspension for Hoffenheim this weekend, while defensive duo Valentin Gendrey and Koki Machida are sidelined alongside Czechia international attacker Adam Hlozek.

Predicted XI (4-1-2-1-2): Baumann; Coufal, Kabak, Hajdari, Bernardo; Avdullahu; Promel, Prass; Toure; Asllani, Lemperle

Unavailable: Gendrey (Injured), Machida (Injured), Burger (Suspended), Hlozek (Injured)

Questionable:

Augsburg vs Hoffenheim prediction

Hoffenheim have now won just one of their last five matches in the Bundesliga, now sitting three points behind fourth placed Stuttgart ahead of this match day. With little to play for, Augsburg may well take the handbrake off and Hoffenheim, at their best, are often a fun team to watch and so may wan to punch their way out of trouble with both teams scoring seeming a reasonably good bet for this one at the WWK Arena.

Augsburg vs Hoffenheim tip: Both teams to score
