ATALANTA PREVIEW: BRILLIANCE IN BERGAMO

After a turbulent summer, the 2023/24 UEFA Europa League winners started the season slowly but have since turned themselves around and the Bergamasci now come into this one on the back of an impressive and relentless run of form.

The genius of Gian Piero Gasperini oversaw a 2-0 defeat of Stuttgart in the UEFA Champions League in midweek and that impressive result in Germany means they are now unbeaten in their last nine matches across all competitions, conceding just two goals in that time.

UDINESE PREVIEW: NEW FOCUS ON UDINESE

Over the summer, after narrowly avoiding the drop on the final day of last season, the Pozzo family seemingly turned their attention back away from Watford to Udinese and now, coached by former Legia Warsaw boss Kosta Runjaic, they have been much-improved.

The Friulians begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the top seven and the European spots but they have suffered from a difficult recent run of form with three defeats in their last four matches.

ATALANTA TEAM NEWS: NO KOLASINAC

Former Arsenal and Bosnia-Herzegovina defender Sead Kolasinac has joined both Giorgio Scalvini and Gianluca Scamacca on the Atalanta injury list.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-1-2): Carnessechi; Djimsiti, Hien, Kossounou; Zappacosta, De Roon, Ederson, Ruggeri; Pasalic; De Ketelaere, Lookman

UNAVAILABLE: Scalvini (Injured), Kolasinac (Injured), Scamacca (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

UDINESE TEAM NEWS: SANCHEZ CLOSER

Alexis Sanchez has not yet made his second debut for Udinese this season after returning over the summer but he is still dealing with a thigh issue.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Okoye; Kabasele, Bijol, Giannetti; Ehizibue, Lovric, Karlstrom, Payero, Zemura; Davis, Thauvin

UNAVAILABLE: Atta (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Sanchez (Injured)

ATALANTA VS UDINESE PREDICTION

Udinese will go to Bergamo and try to attack. They have a bit of variation to the way they play with a typical ‘big man’ in Keinan Davis as well as some other floaty attackers like Florian Thauvin. They are struggling for a bit of consistency and rhythm at the moment, though, as they now take on what is a genuinely rampant Atalanta side that must be firm favourites to put the pressure on Napoli and Internazionale at the top-of-the-table.

ATALANTA VS UDINESE TIP: ATALANTA TO WIN -1 HANDICAP
