Key stats

  • Armenia are without a win in their last seven World Cup qualifying matches (D3 L4).
  • Portugal are unbeaten in the previous six international matches between these teams (W4 D2).
  • Portugal have won 16 of their last 19 World Cup qualifying matches (D2 L1).
  • Portugal are unbeaten in their last nine World Cup qualifying matches away from home (W7 D2).
  • Portugal have kept 12 clean sheets in their last 19 World Cup qualifying matches.

Armenia vs Portugal prediction

Armenia’s most recent outing saw them share a 2-2 draw with Montenegro in a friendly in Podgorica in June. The Armenians have managed just one victory in their last nine matches, with that win coming against the Faroe Islands. They were hammered 9-1 on aggregate by Georgia in March, being denied UEFA Nations League promotion.

This is the first fixture since the death of Diogo Jota and so it is expected to be an emotional outing for the Portuguese. They managed to win their third international trophy within the last decade over the summer as they sprung a surprise to defeat Spain on penalties in Munich in the final of the UEFA Nations League.

Armenia have been getting worse from an already low status, and a comfortable, potentially heavy Portuguese victory is to be expected in the Armenian capital city.

Armenia vs Portugal tip: Portugal to win -2 handicap
