Alycia Parks vs Maria Sakkari prediction

Maria Sakkari will hope it’s a case of third time lucky against Alycia Parks.

The American leads their head-to-head 2-0, including a 6-3 6-3 win in Miami earlier this year.

However, fourth seed Sakkari has the home support and looked inspired as she thrashed Great Britain’s Harriet Dart 6-1 6-2.

Parks had a tougher time as she edged Mai Hontama 6-7 6-2 7-5 but there’s no doubt the American world number 70 is enjoying a strong season and is already close to setting a career best in terms of wins.

Alycia will be eager to play the villain here and it may well be a match that goes three, but there’s very much scope to suggest the extra motivation of playing in Greece could give Sakkari the edge.
