Alexei Popyrin vs Clement Tabur prediction
It has generally been a tough year for Alexei Popyrin, who has slid down the rankings throughout 2026, but the Australian showed signs of life at the recent Italian Open, defeating both Matteo Berrettini and 26th seed Jakub Mensik on his way to the third round.
He then ran into the unstoppable Jannik Sinner, winning just two games against the world number one, but playing against such a high level could serve him well in Geneva this week.
He will face fellow 26-year-old Clement Tabur, a late bloomer who is currently at a career high of 165 in the world. More commonly seen on the Challenger circuit, the Frenchman is something of a clay-court specialist and came through two rounds of qualifying to reach the main draw in Geneva.
Despite being ranked over 100 places higher, Popyrin is likely to be tested by an opponent who is comfortable on this surface, so this is unlikely to be a formality.
Alexei Popyrin vs Clement Tabur tip: Over 21.5 games
