Alexander Zverev vs Ben Shelton prediction

Alexander Zverev advanced through to his first final since the Australian Open in January with a straight sets win over Fabian Marozsan. He is now just one match away from equalling Philipp Kohlschreiber’s record of three Munich titles.

The German went a break down early in the opening stages but refocused to make the final. He committed just 13 unforced errors compared to 28 for Marozsan.

He will take on Ben Shelton who continued his impressive run at the tournament with a comeback win against Francisco Cerundolo. The 22-year-old dug deep and recovered from going a break down in the third set to win 2-6 7-6 6-4 and make his first ever final on clay. He’s the first American to make a clay final above ATP 250 level since Andre Agassi won the Rome title in 2002.

Zverev leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a win in the Cincinnati quarter-finals last year but they’ve never played on clay before. Shelton deserves huge credit for battling his way through to the final and can cause problems for the German, but we’re backing Zverev to make it through in three sets and win his third Munich title.

Alexander Zverev vs Ben Shelton tip: Alexander Zverev to win 2-1
