Alaves preview: Difficult summer

Deportivo Alaves endured a difficult 2024/25 campaign, in which the Basque side eventually managed to steer themselves clear of the bottom three and the relegation places late on in the season, staying up on the penultimate day of the campaign.

Over the summer, former Celta Vigo boss Eduardo Coudet has remained in charge at the Mendizorroza. They have lost a couple of key players this summer, with Santiago Mourino departing alongside Abdel Abqar and Kike Garcia.

Levante preview: Back in La Liga

Following their promotion back to the top-flight last season, Levante will automatically be expected to be battling against the drop this season, but the Valencians will be expected to play an exciting style of football with Julian Calero at the helm.

In his first season, the former Porto youth coach and Cartagena and Burgos boss led Levante to automatic promotion last season. They have brought in the likes of Kervin Arreaga, Alan Matturro, Jeremy Toljan and Manu Sanchez over the summer.

Alaves team news: Fully fit

Ahead of the visit of Levante to the Basque Country this weekend, Alaves do have a fully fit and available squad so they will be able to name their strongest eleven on opening day.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Antonio Sivera; Tenaglia, Garces, Maras; Tenaglia, Ander Guevara, Antonio Blanco, Carles Alena, Jonny; Mariano, Toni Martinez

Levante team news: Registration nightmare

Only three players have been registered by La Liga to play this weekend, as of the time of writing, but there is an expectation that the Valencians get everyone over the line.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Alfonso Pastor; Toljan, Matias Moreno, Matturro, Dela; Pablo Martinez, Jon Olasagasti; Jose Luis Morales, Sergio Lozano, Koyalipou; Ivan Romero

Alaves vs Levante prediction

This one is an unpredictable one as it features an Alaves side that are expected to change their system and therefore become new look, but remain in flux after some key absentees, up against a Levante side that have made plenty of signings and they will be quite concerned that they could have severe teething issues at the start of this season so siding with Alaves looks the way to go for this one with their home advantage.

Alaves vs Levante tip: Double chance – Alaves to win or draw
