Adolfo Daniel Vallejo made it three straight wins in Bastad as he defeated Stefano Travaglia in straight sets to reach the semi-finals. The Paraguayan failed to serve out the first set, but he still took the lead after winning the tiebreak. He quickly raced clear in the second, reeling off the final five games to complete a 7-6 (5) 6-2 win. He is into his first ATP semi-final.
He will now face defending champion Luciano Darderi after the Italian beat Nuno Borges for the first time. Borges, who had won their previous meeting at the Mallorca Championships last month, broke Darderi when he was serving for the first set and opened up a 5-2 lead in the subsequent tiebreak. He had two set points, but Darderi saved them both and went in front. He won 7-6 (9) 6-4 and is now two matches away from defending his title.
