Werder Bremen Preview: Sliding down the table

Three successive Bundesliga defeats have come at a bad time for Werder Bremen, who are dropping down the Bundesliga table as a result. However, their worst recent result came in the DFB-Pokal midweek as they were beaten 2-1 by third tier Arminia Bielefeld, denying them a place in the semi-finals.

Wolfsburg Preview: Draw specialists

Four of Wolfsburg’s last five Bundesliga fixtures have finished level and whilst that has helped them accumulate an unbeaten streak of five league games, it’s not helping them ascend up the table as fast as they would want. Like Werder, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side were also losers in the DFB-Pokal quarter-finals midweek, going down 1-0 to RB Leipzig.

Werder Bremen Team News: Illness sweeping camp

Werder could be without up to four players through illness, with multiple fitness tests expected prior to this game. Striker Marvin Ducksch is out injured, meaning the onus will be on Andre Silva to lead the line up top.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Backhaus; Veljkovic, Stark, Jung; Kabore, Lynen, Stage, Agu; Njinmah, Silva, Burke

Unavailable: Ducksch (Injured), Friedl (Injured)

Questionable: Alvero (Illness), Grull (Illness), Schmid (Illness), Zetterer (Illness)

Wolfsburg Team News: Injury list still high

The likes of Maximilian Arnold, Lovro Majer, Kevin Paredes and Rogerio are all still unavailable for the visitors in what is still a very lengthy injury list at present, whilst attacker Lukas Nmecha is doubtful.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Muller; Fischer, Vavro, Koulierakis, Maehle; Tomas, Svanberg, Vranckx, Wimmer; Wind, Amoura

Unavailable: Arnold (Injured), Bialek (Injured), Bornauw (Injured), Grabara (Injured), Majer (Injured), Paredes (Injured), Rogerio (Injured)

Questionable: Nmecha (Injured)

Werder Bremen vs Wolfsburg Prediction

Confidence within the Werder Bremen camp, not to mention morale must be at rock bottom following their shock DFB-Pokal exit and it’s difficult not to see that having an impact on them in the Bundesliga, where they have already been struggling significantly over the past weeks to pick up positive results.

It would be no surprise to see the hosts’ losing run extended by Wolfsburg, but caution should be aired when taking into account that Hasenhuttl’s men are away from home and have struggled to turn draws into victories of late. Therefore, look to utilise the double chance market and back Wolfsburg to pick up at least a point, if not all three.

Werder Bremen vs Wolfsburg Tip: Double chance - draw/Wolfsburg
