Villarreal preview: Struggles for Villarreal
Marcelino led Villarreal to successive UEFA Champions League qualifications for the first time in their history but his style of football became dull for supporters and he has been replaced by former Rayo Vallecano boss Inigo Perez with a more intense style.
The Yellow Submarine have suffered from teething issues thus far and that continued in midweek as they kicked off the league phase of the UEFA Champions League with a 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in a game whereby the scoreline flattered them.
Real Betis preview: Impressive Betis
Unlike Villarreal, Real Betis have opted for continuity with Manuel Pellegrini remaining in charge and the Andalusians have enjoyed a strong start to the season with a 1-0 defeat of Real Madrid last weekend making it three wins from four matches in La Liga.
Los Verdiblancos then defeated Lille by three goals to two at Stade Pierre-Mauroy in midweek as they came from behind twice with Troy Parrott scoring another winning goal as he did against Real Madrid at La Cartuja last week.
Villarreal team news: Carlos Romero out
Summer signing Carlos Romero, who joined from Espanyol, is now sidelined for the hosts alongside versatile former Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth.

In theory, these should be two of the more proactive teams in Spain and that should lead to an entertaining contest here. Even though Villarreal have not been as effective as they would have liked, they have remained fun to watch, while Betis have been a little more controlled domestically but when tested they stood up and when at Lille in midweek – and both teams scoring would therefore seem a decent bet for this one on Monday in La Liga.
