Union Berlin Preview: Finishing well
Union Berlin, coached by former Cologne boss Steffen Baumgart, come into this one on the back of a seven-match unbeaten run of form which has seen themselves comfortably push away from the bottom three and the danger zone in the Bundesliga.
Their most recent outing saw them share a 1-1 draw with Bochum at Vonovia Ruhrstadion last weekend in a game in which Benedict Hollerbach opened the scoring after 17 minutes before Matus Bero equalised mid-way through the second-half for Bochum.
Werder Bremen Preview: Need top six
Due to the fact that the DFB-Pokal final is between third-tier Arminia Bielefeld and mid-table Stuttgart, only the top six in the Bundesliga will qualify for European competition this season as Werder Bremen hover just outside of the top six.
They are in good form, though, despite being held to a goalless draw by ten-man St Pauli at home last weekend. Prior to that frustrating point against the Hamburg-based outfit, they had enjoyed four successive victories.
Union Berlin Team News: Several injuries
Union Berlin defensive duo Jerome Roussillon and Josip Juranovic are both doubts for the hosts, whilst the likes of Diego Leite, Jeong Woo-yeong and Robert Skov are definitely out.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Ronnow; Doekhi, Querfeld, Vogt; Trimmel, Schafer, Khedira, Haberer, Rothe; Hollerbach, Ilic
Unavailable: Leite (Injured), Kemlein (Injured), Jeong (Injured), Skov (Injured)
Questionable: Roussillon (Injured), Juranovic (Injured)
Werder Bremen Team News: Veljkovic still out
Montenegro international defender Milos Veljkovic is unavailable for Werder Bremen this weekend as the former Tottenham Hotspur man deals with a calf injury.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Zetterer; Stark, Friedl, Pieper; Weiser, Stage, Lynen, Agu; Njinmah, Schmid; Ducksch
Unavailable: Veljkovic (Injured)

Union Berlin vs Werder Bremen Prediction
Union Berlin have achieved their top-flight status with an impressive run of form that has been built upon a defensive stability and solidity. It would be reasonable to expect that they could have a drop off with little to play for between now and the end of the season. In contrast, in-form Werder have a lot to play for as they search for a return to European competition and siding with the visitors would appear the way to go for this one in the German capital.
Union Berlin vs Werder Bremen Tip: Double chance – Werder Bremen to win or draw
