Jose Daniel Medina: Durable Venezuelan seeking first UFC victory
Jose Daniel Medina (11-6-0) is a 34-year-old Venezuelan middleweight still searching for his first win inside the Octagon. A former Samurai Fight House and Thunder Fight champion, Medina earned his opportunity through Dana White’s Contender Series despite losing a competitive bout to Magomed Gadzhiyasulov. Since joining the UFC, however, he has struggled to convert opportunity into results.
Medina has dropped three fights inside the promotion, losing to Zachary Reese, Ateba Gautier and Dusko Todorovic. He is known for his toughness and durability, often absorbing heavy shots while attempting to stay competitive in exchanges. While primarily a boxer by background, he will need a more complete performance to derail an aggressive opponent in front of a lively Mexico City crowd.
Ryan Gandra vs Jose Daniel Medina prediction
This contest appears to hinge on tempo and durability. Gandra’s approach is built around pressure and volume, and if he can dictate the pace from the outset, he should be able to test Medina’s resilience quickly. Medina has shown he can withstand early surges, but absorbing sustained power against a natural finisher is a risky strategy.
Medina’s clearest route to success lies in extending the fight into deeper waters and forcing Gandra to work at a pace he cannot maintain. However, given Gandra’s recent form and finishing instincts, it is difficult to ignore the stylistic advantages he brings. If he maintains composure and accuracy while applying pressure, a stoppage seems likely.
Prediction: Ryan Gandra to win by KO/TKO
