Ezra Elliott: The undefeated prospect looks to maintain his 100% first round finishing rate

A training partner of former bantamweight champion, Sean O’Malley, Ezra Elliott (7-0) makes his UFC debut on short notice in the wake of a first round KO victory in May. A prolific finisher, the MMA Lab representative has five submissions and two KOs to his name to underline this state of affairs. An undefeated amateur in addition to his perfect pro record, Elliott’s strength of schedule leaves a lot to be desired, but he’s still obliterated everybody that’s been put in front of him; the 27 year old has yet to see a second round in seven professional fights.

Damien Anderson: Will the B-Team alum lock up a trademark submission in his first UFC fight?

BJJ standout, Damien Anderson (5-0) finds himself in the UFC in just his sixth professional MMA fight, moving up a weight class to seize the opportunity with both hands. A member of the iconic B-Team jiu-jitsu stable alongside the likes of Craig Jones and Nicky Rod, “Demon Hands” has been perfect since transitioning to MMA after a successful grappling career; Anderson has a 100% finish rate and has yet to see a third round in the cage. He’s fought most of his career in Fury FC, taking on steadily increasing levels of competition.

Ezra Elliott vs Damien Anderson prediction

Cobbled together as an excellent last minute addition to the card, this is going to be entertaining while it lasts. Pitting two undefeated prospects with 100% finish rates against each other, it’s a fight that is highly unlikely to require the judges’ input.

Elliott is undoubtedly talented, but I like Anderson to score the debut victory here. The MMA Lab prospect is an excellent grappler in his own right, but I think that Anderson’s extensive BJJ credentials means that he’s likely to be a step ahead once the action hits the floor.

With that being said, there’s always a chance when two talented grapplers meet that their respective ground games cancel the other out and they resort to banging it out on the fight. Anderson isn’t tiny for 145 pounds but he is a natural bantamweight on the wrong end of a height and size discrepancy here. Elliott has a nasty GNP game and is more than capable of pounding Anderson out if he gets complacent on his back.

With that being said, we’re still going with “Demon Hands” here. I think that Elliott’s aggression could actually work against him, allowing Anderson to tangle him in something fight ending during the early goings while the pair are still dry.

Prediction: Damien Anderson to win by submission
