Chase Hooper: Can "The Dream" rebound after the roughest run of his professional career?

Chase Hooper (16-5-1) had seemingly found new lease of life at 155 pounds after going 3-3 at featherweight, reeling off five consecutive victories with three finishes. Regrettably for “The Dream,” it’s been all downhill since a victory over Jim Miller at UFC 314, with Hooper succumbing to two first round TKO defeats in a row, getting punched out by Alexander Hernandez and kneed into oblivion by Lance Gibson Jr.. It’s no secret what Hooper wants to do at this point in proceedings; “The Dream” thrives when he’s able to drag the action to the mat and work his slick submission game. However, his goofy striking and defensive lapses leave him open to big shots when the fight is being contested on the feet.

Mitch Ramirez: Ramirez looks to avoid his walking papers and earn his first UFC win

Winless with two stoppage losses since joining the UFC in 2024, Mitch Ramirez (8-3) enters this contest in desperate need of a victory. The American’s Contender Series audition didn’t go his way either, with Ramirez finding himself on the wrong end of a brutal KO from a certain Carlos Prates. He rebounded with an impressive first round KO on LFA to earn himself a shot at the big leagues, but he’s since been stopped by Thiago Moises and Mike Davis under the UFC banner. Big for the weight class at 5’11, Ramirez rarely goes the distance in his fights, a state of affairs underlined by the manner of his losses and seven finishes in eight pro wins.

Chase Hooper vs Mitch Ramirez prediction

Hooper has hit a rough run of form as of late, dropping back-to-back first round TKO losses. With that being said, this looks like a tailor made match up for “The Dream” to bounce back in.

Ramirez has never been submitted, but it’s his wrestling defence that gives cause for concern here. The American stuffs takedowns at a measly 25% success rate, and has been dragged to the mat by both of his UFC opponents to date; a concerning omen when faced with a grappler of Hooper’s calibre.

With that being said, Hooper’s stand up game has always been his Achilles’ heel. He’s been stopped with strikes in three of his five UFC losses, and while Ramirez is coming off two successive TKO defeats of his own, he’s a powerful striker with four first round KOs to his name. It’s decidedly not out of the realms of possibility that he bombs Hooper out in the open early and follows up for the finish.

However, we’re still going with “The Dream” here. As opposed to the dominant grappling-based performances that he began his lightweight tenure with, I think this plays out like many of Hooper’s wins at featherweight; namely, where he gets pieced up in the early goings before wrestling Ramirez to the mat and finding a submission or GNP TKO.

Prediction: Chase Hooper to win by finish
