Stephanie Luciano: "Rondinha" looks to score her first UFC stoppage

Despite only fighting to a draw against Talita Alencar on the Contender Series in 2023, Stephanie Luciano (6-2-1) found herself debuting in the promotion around a year later. “Rondinha” was able to score a decision victory in a rematch against the aforementioned Alencar, before coming up short in her sophomore appearance against Sam Hughes. Luciano has never been finished and has two stoppages to her name in six professional victories, with both of those wins coming by way of knockout.

Ravena Oliveira: Can Oliveira rebound after a significant amount of time on the shelf?

A multiple time champion on the regional circuit, Ravena Oliveira (7-2-1) wasn’t able to score the victory in her UFC debut, losing to Tainara Lisboa by decision in her sole appearance in the promotion to date. That loss came more than two years ago, and Oliveira hasn’t fought once in the time since. The 28 year old KO artist has been recovering from a career threatening knee injury, raising questions as to whether she still has what it takes to compete at the highest level of WMMA.

Stephanie Luciano vs Ravena Oliveira prediction

While the two fighters look to be an even match on paper, there’s a reason that the oddsmakers are siding with “Rondinha” in such a major way.

Oliveira is only 28, but two years is a long time in MMA. Even if she has fully recovered from her injury woes, there’s a strong possibility that ring rust plays a factor here. She has yet to prove that she’s capable of securing a UFC win, and there’s going to be a huge amount of pressure on her to produce a standout performance in her return.

By contrast, Luciano may not have set the world on fire throughout her 1-1 UFC tenure to date, but she’s proven to be a solid, well-rounded fighter. The Brazilian is the younger, more active fighter, and she’s actually got a slight size and reach advantage to boot. Luciano was arguably unlucky to come out on the wrong end of her split decision defeat to Sam Hughes, and she became the first woman to defeat fellow prospect Talita Alencar prior to that.

In short, there’s an argument to be made that Luciano would be the favorite even if Oliveira wasn’t coming off two years on the shelf.

Prediction: Stephanie Luciano to win by decision
