Danny Barlow: Searching for redemption in a new weight class
Danny Barlow (9-1) makes the move up to middleweight after a mixed run at welterweight. The 30-year-old American earned his UFC contract with a spectacular first-round knockout of Raheam Forrest and followed it up with two impressive performances — a third-round KO of Josh Quinlan and a split-decision win over Nikolay Veretennikov. However, his momentum was halted in March 2025 when he suffered his first professional defeat, a TKO loss to Sam Patterson.

That setback cost Barlow some of his early hype, but in retrospect, it doesn’t look so damaging given Patterson’s current four-fight finishing streak. Barlow is a composed and technically sound kickboxer with solid power, sharp movement, and good shot selection. His biggest question now is how his frame and durability hold up at 185 pounds. After being stopped for the first time in his career, this bout will reveal whether his chin and defensive fundamentals can hold firm against bigger opposition.

Djorden Ribeiro dos Santos: Tough and entertaining
Brazil’s Djorden Ribeiro dos Santos (10-2) enters this fight with a reputation for toughness and an entertaining style. The 28-year-old earned his UFC deal with a unanimous decision victory over Will Currie and made his promotional debut earlier this year in a thrilling but losing effort against Ozzy Diaz. While that fight was a fun back-and-forth affair, the level of opposition wasn’t top tier, and Santos will need to show more composure against a technical striker like Barlow.

Santos has never been finished in his professional career, a testament to his grit and durability. He’s a boxer at heart, preferring to stand and trade rather than utilise his reach. Despite being long and rangy, he enjoys working inside the pocket, where he throws combinations and counters well in exchanges. While his striking isn’t elite, he thrives in messy fights and has the chin to back it up.

Danny Barlow vs Djorden Ribeiro dos Santos prediction
This should be an action-packed fight between two aggressive strikers who rarely take a backwards step. Barlow remains the more polished and technically refined of the two, with a cleaner jab, tighter defence, and a more efficient striking approach. Although his recent defeat raised some concerns, the quality of opposition makes it easier to forgive — Sam Patterson has evolved into one of the division’s most dangerous finishers.

Santos will test Barlow’s composure by pushing the pace and looking to trade heavy leather in close. However, his willingness to stand in the pocket and take shots could be costly against a more accurate counter-striker. Barlow’s precision, experience, and ability to manage distance should give him the upper hand as the fight progresses.

Expect Santos’s toughness to keep him competitive, but Barlow’s technique and timing should see him pull ahead on the scorecards — or possibly find a late finish if the Brazilian begins to fade.

Prediction: Danny Barlow to win and over 1.5 rounds
