Melissa Croden: "Scare" looks to make a huge impression in her UFC debut

Alberta’s first female UFC fighter, Melissa Croden (6-2) will make her promotional debut as the hometown favorite. At 5’9, “Scare” is big for the division and arrives in the UFC with a 100% finish rate in victory. Somewhat of a veteran for the fight game at 34, Croden is clearly tough as nails but unfortunately for “Scare,” she’s arguably best known for getting dropped four times and somehow managing to remain in the fight against Jacqueline Cavalcanti in 2023.

Tainara Lisboa: Will "Thai Panther" show levels against a debuting opponent?

Owner of a 2-1 UFC record since debuting in 2023, Tainara Lisboa (7-3) enters this match up off the back of a disappointing submission defeat to Luana Santos. Prior to that, "Thai Panther" scored a decision over Ravena Oliveira and a submission victory over Jessica Rose-Clark. The 34 year old Brazilian has six finishes in her seven professional victories, although it's also worth noting that her defeat to the aforementioned Santos marked her second loss by submission. Saturday night will mark her just her second fight since 2023.

Melissa Croden vs Tainara Lisboa prediction

On paper, there’s a strong chance that this one could end before the final bell. With twelve combined stoppages in thirteen combined victories, both women are prolific finishers.

With that being said, the pair’s strength of schedule in their careers to date decidedly favors Lisboa. Croden may have a 100% finishing rate in victory, but she’s been beating complete cans on the regional circuit and she’s lost any time she’s faced anybody vaguely decent.

However, it’s also worth noting that Lisboa is only one fight removed from a two year hiatus from the sport. Moreover, her only fight since her lay off saw her get finished in decisive fashion by a Luana Santos americana. As such, it’s not out of the realms of possibility that Croden could catch her by surprise; she's bigger, longer, and seemingly hits harder than the Brazilian.

However, until Croden proves that she’s got what it takes to hang tough in the UFC, Lisboa remains the safer bet here. The pick is for “Thai Panther” to show levels and earn the decision victory.

Prediction: Tainara Lisboa to win
