THE PREDICTION

25-year-old Ugo Humbert became the French number one this week, setting a career-high ATP world ranking of 18th despite losing to Emil Ruusuvuori in the first round of the Rotterdam Open last time out. The left-hander won his fifth ATP title at the Open 13 earlier this month, backing-up his fourth claimed on home soil in Metz late last season, and he has the potential to make a foray into the top 10 this season if he can maintain his coasting level alongside his penchant for beating the very best around. Pavel Kotov, also 25, came perilously close to winning his maiden ATP title when he finished runner-up to Gael Monfils in Stockholm late last season and he could break inside the top 60 for the first time after beating Lorenzo Sonego in straight sets on Monday. Humbert beat the Kazakh in three sets way back in 2020 but both players have improved since then, although a bye to the round of 16 may see Humbert struggle early in this clash. Back the Frenchman to win outright.

TIP: UGO HUMBERT TO WIN
