THE PREDICTION
Defending champion Nicolas Jarry began his excellent rise back up the ATP world rankings with victory here on home soil in Santiago and he will be the fans’ favourite all week long. The 28-year-old went on to win a third ATP title at the Geneva Open, also on clay, before hugely impressing on both grass and hardcourts, and he stunned Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets at the Buenos Aires Open two weeks ago before something of a capitulation in the final. World number 88 Federico Coria knows all about falling at the final hurdle after two impressive runs to the semi-finals of both Cordoba, where he finished runner-up last season, and Buenos Aires were ended in avoidable defeats. The Argentine lost from a set up to eventual runner-up Mariano Navone last week in Rio but a straight-sets victory over Alex Molcan on Monday was a welcome bounce back. Jarry also suffered an early exit in Rio last week, perhaps still fatigued from his exploits the previous week, but he should be bolstered by home support to come through comfortably here.
TIP: NICOLAS JARRY TO WIN 2-0
