THE PREDICTION
World number one Iga Swiatek conceded just three games to Danielle Collins to avoid another scrap with the fearless American, who took her to three sets before defeat at the Australian Open in January. 22-year-old Swiatek won Indian Wells here two years ago during a remarkable 37-match winning streak that included four Masters titles and her second, of now three, Roland-Garros titles and she made further history at the Qatar Masters last month by becoming the first player since Serena Williams to win the same tournament three years on the spin. 19-year-old Linda Noskova, however, shocked Swiatek in three sets the round after she beat Collins in Melbourne two months ago, going on to set a career-high WTA world ranking of 28th after reaching the quarter-finals. The Czech beat Maria Sakkari in Doha to prove Melbourne was no fluke and she overcame Camila Giorgi in straight sets here on Friday to bring strong form into this intriguing rematch.
It is very rare that Swiatek lets a player get the better of her twice but it is also notable that she has struggled to play her game ruthless against some players such as Elena Rybakina and Jelena Ostapenko. Defeat to Anna Kalinskaya in the semi-finals of the Dubai Masters last month suggests that the Pole is not quite at her imperious best but taking her to come through outright here still feels like the reasonable call, even if Noskova has a blueprint for success.
TIP: IGA SWIATEK TO WIN
