Sunderland preview: Solid start
After a heavy summer of spending in which the Black Cats spent in excess of £150 million, Sunderland, who gained promotion via the playoffs last season, have started the campaign reasonably well.
Their form at the Stadium of Light has been particularly impressive, with the Wearsiders coming into this one on the back of a 2-0 loss to a poor Manchester United side at Old Trafford a couple of weeks ago.
Wolves preview: Underwhelming Wolves
It has been a very tough start to the season for Wolverhampton Wanderers thus far, with Vitor Pereira’s side, who were always expected to struggle, having collected just two points from their opening seven matches.
They will believe they should have got their first win of the season a couple of weeks ago when they led Brighton and Hove Albion by a goal to nil at Molineux before conceding a late Jan Paul van Hecke equaliser.
Sunderland team news: Sadiki fit
In his pre-match press conference, Regis Le Bris has confirmed that Democratic Republic of Congo international Noah Sadiki is 'ok' having been assessed for an injury sustained just ahead of the international break.
The Black Cats will have to give a late assessement of Paraguay international centre-back Omar Alderete but things are 'positive'. They remain without defender Reinildo and midfielder Habib Diarra.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Roefs; Hume, Mukiele, Alderete, Masuaku; Xhaka, Sadiki; Traore, Le Fee, Adingra; Isidor
Unavailable: Hjelde (Injured), Alese (Injured), Reinildo (Suspended), Cirkin (Injured), Diarra (Injured), Mundle (Injured)
Questionable: Alderete (Injured)
Wolves team news: Hwang issue
Wolverhampton Wanderers have some minor injury issues for this one with South Korea international Hwang Hee-chan now a doubt for this weekend's trip to the north east.
Vitor Pereira has confirmed that Jean-Ricner Bellegrade is still struggling with illness and Matty Doherty is expected to be unavailable for a while due to surgery on a wrist injury.
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Johnstone; Tchatchoua, S. Bueno, Krejci, H. Bueno; Munetsi, Andre, J. Gomes; Arias, Strand Larsen, R. Gomes
Unavailable: Doherty (Injured), Chiwome (Injured)
Questionable: Toti (Illness), Bellegarde (Illness), Hwang (Injured)
Sunderland vs Wolves prediction
With home advantage, Sunderland will believe they can get themselves on the front foot and set about what is a poor and average Wolves side in the northeast. The hosts have built a squad that has a lot of depth and quality to it now and, up against a team that have been improving but remain incapable of getting the better of their opponents, would have to be viewed as slight favourites for this one.
Sunderland vs Wolves tip: Double chance – Sunderland to win or draw
