Sunderland vs Coventry prediction

Sunderland were difficult to breakdown at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Friday and they took the lead in the second-half via Wilson Isidor before Jack Rudoni equalised just a couple of minutes later. Eliezer Mayenda then punished a Milan van Ewijk mistake in the 88th minute to give the Black Cats a one-goal advantage ahead of the second-leg.

Regis Le Bris, formerly of Lorient, has overseen a generally impressive Sunderland campaign but the young and exciting squad did finish the regular season with five successive defeats. Coventry, on the other hand, propelled themselves up the table throughout Frank Lampard’s tenure and only confirmed their top six spot on the final day of the campaign.

Sunderland, albeit with a lead, will know they have to a bit more initiative in this game at home and space should well afforded to Coventry, who will be confident of at least scoring up on Wearside in what should be quite an entertaining semi-final second-leg.
