The first-leg of this UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-final tie saw Mainz defeat Strasbourg by two goals to nil at the Mewa Arena with early strikes scored by Kaishu Sano and former Bologna defender Stefan Posch.

Gary O’Neil has done a good job in charge of Strasbourg, since he replaced Liam Rosenior at Stade de la Meinau, as they now take on a Mainz side that have been exceptional for the last few months since the appointment of Urs Fischer.
