Sri Lanka’s group game against Bangladesh saw them outplay the Tigers and emerge as comprehensive winners. Bowling first, they restricted Bangladesh to just 139/5 and lost just four wickets in a successful run chase, which was completed after only 14.4 overs of the Sri Lankan innings. Charith Asalanka’s side went on to top Group B with three wins from three.
Bangladesh have since beaten Afghanistan by eight runs to make it through to the Super Four, but they will be big underdogs from now on. Sri Lanka are playing good, professional cricket and if they maintain the performance levels that we’ve seen so far from them at the Asia Cup, then we should see Asalanka’s men defeat the Tigers again.
