Zimbabwe deserve huge credit for the manner in which they dispatch of Bangladesh at the weekend. Accumulating 271/8 batting first, they went on to bowl out the Tigers for just 172 in an excellent all-round showing, winning by 99 runs. Confidence will be coursing through their camp and they’ll no doubt be fired up to go again here against Afghanistan.
Whilst Afghanistan poses a big threat with some very good batters and dangerous spin-bowling options in particular, they are running into a team playing some very good cricket and in good form who are now familiar with conditions at the Zayed Cricket Stadium. After what we saw on Saturday, backing Zimbabwe has to be favoured.
