With Riley Meredith back for the T20 Blast, having been the top wicket-taker in the competition last season, Somerset again have a strong squad with his compatriot Daniel Sams boosting a very strong batting lineup down in Taunton.

The Hampshire Hawks have a light red-ball squad and could well be involved in a relegation battle in this season’s County Championship, especially following the surprise announcement of Liam Dawson’s retirement from First Class cricket.

Dawson is now a white-ball specialist, and a good one at that, alongside James Vince for the Hawks but the low mood of Hampshire could well be prolonged just yet as Somerset have to remain favourites at Taunton.
