In the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, Shkendija pulled off an edgy victory against Welsh champions The New Saints, and they then pulled off an upset to defeat Romanian champions FCSB. In the previous round, they were then hammering by Azeri champions Qarabag by six goals to one on aggregate.
Ludogorets Razgrad have become perennial qualifiers for the league and group phase in UEFA competition. The Bulgarians were hammered 3-0 by Ferencvaros in the third qualifying round in the UEFA Champions League, after their victories against Dinamo Minsk and then Rijeka.
Shkendija will believe that their home advantage has got them this far and they can be stubborn opposition, but Ludogorets have to be seen as favourites for this one.
