Quite astonishingly, Sheriff Tiraspol didn’t win the Moldovan top-flight last season as they now come up against Prishtina in the 2025/26 UEFA Europa League this week.

Last season, Sheriff Tiraspol went unbeaten throughout the campaign but they were pipped to the title by Milsami Orhei in the championship round. Sheriff were knocked out of the UEFA Europa League in the second qualifying round last year before losing to Olimpija Ljubljana in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
They now face a Prishtina side that, coached by Arsim Thaqi, finished fifth in the Kosovan Superleague last season but they qualified for the UEFA Europa League by winning the Kosovan Cup. They were knocked out in the third qualifying round of this competition last season by Bodo/Glimt.
Prishtina showed some signs of improvement in Europe last season, but Sheriff are firm favourites for both legs of this tie, especially at home in the first-leg.
