Sao Tome e Principe are comfortably one of the weakest sides in African international football as they finish off their qualifying campaign against Malawi this weekend.

Key Stats

  • São Tomé and Príncipe have lost their last 12 World Cup qualifying matches, since a 1-0 victory against Ethiopia in October 2015.
  • Malawi scored two goals in their last two World Cup qualifying matches. They have never scored two (or more) goals in three successive WCQ fixtures.

Sao Tome e Principe vs Malawi Prediction

Sao Tome e Principe come into this one on the back of a 6-0 annihilation at the hands of a Tunisia side that have already booked their spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with automatic qualification from Group H. Sao Tome e Principe have suffered nine successive defeats, scoring four goals and conceding 26.

They face a Malawi side that had their most recent clash with the Equatorial Guinea cancelled. Malawi have been frustrating at times in this campaign but did collect four points from two matches in the September international break, drawing with Liberia and defeating Namibia.

Malawi are hardly a dominant force nor necessarily a strong team but they absolutely should be able to finish their campaign with a bit of a flourish in Tunisia this weekend.
