Saint-Etienne preview: Miracles happen but not this one
Following their promotion to the top-flight of French football last season, Saint-Etienne have suffered an immediate relegation back down to Ligue 2, despite the fact they have shown some fight in the last month or so as they try and battle against the drop.
ASSE, coached by Eirik Horneland who replaced Olivier Dall’Oglio during the mid-season winter break, most recently defeated Stade de Reims by two goals to nil at Stade Auguste-Delaune II thanks to first-half goals from Florian Tardieu and Irvin Cardona.
Toulouse preview: Mid-table Toulouse
Under the management of Spanish coach Carlos Martinez Novell, Toulouse are heading for a third successive mid-table finish in Ligue 1. They have more or less seemingly taken the final few months of the campaign off with a low and average performance level.
The visitors come into this one on the back of a three-match unbeaten run of form. They shared a 1-1 draw with Lens at Stadium de Toulouse last weekend with Yann Gboho’s opener being cancelled out by midfielder Neil El Aynaoui.
Saint-Etienne team news: Stassin a doubt
Belgian striker Lucas Stassin took his time to have a major influence at Saint-Etienne but he has eventually showed his quality but he is an injury doubt due to a strain. Fellow forward Augustine Boakye remains sidelined due to an ankle injury.
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Larsonneur; Appiah, Bernauer, Nade, Petrot; Moueffek, Ekwah, Tardieu; Cardona, Wadji, Davitashvili
Unavailable: Boakye (Injured)
Questionable: Stassin (Injured)
Toulouse team news: Nothing fresh
Ahead of the trip to Stade Geoffrey-Guichard this weekend, Toulouse have no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for this one so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven. They do have a couple of confirmed absentees such as Rasmus Nicolaisen and Niklas Schmidt.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Restes; Sidibe, McKenzie, Canvot; Donnum, Cristian Casseres Jr, Sierro, Kamanzi; Gboho, King; Magri
Unavailable: Nicolaisen (Injured), Schmidt (Injured)

Saint-Etienne vs Toulouse prediction
Saint-Etienne have shown some fight at the end of the season but it has come too late when the pressure was already off as they prepare themselves for another summer back in the second-tier. They now face a Toulouse side that have, as mentioned, coasted for a couple of months with the visitors having managed just one victory in their last nine matches. As they seek to finish with something of a flourish, siding with Saint-Etienne appears the way to go for this one.
Saint-Etienne vs Toulouse tip: Double chance – Saint-Etienne to win or draw
