Roma preview: Romans pushing for Europe

The in-fighting between manager Gian Piero Gasperini and director Claudio Ranieri is distracting from Roma's task at hand on the pitch but the Giallorossi do remain just about alive in the hunt for a top four finish this season.

The Romans begin the 35th match day of the 2025/26 Serie A campaign sitting sixth in the table but just three points behind fourth place Juventus and the UEFA Champions League qualification spots.

Fiorentina preview: Pushing clear

Fiorentina have endured a generally miserable campaign but I Viola are showing signs of life as they, bit by bit, kick themselves away from the bottom three and the relegation places down at the bottom end of the table.

Fiorentina were held to a frustrating goalless draw by mid-table Sassuolo, meaning that they begin the match day sitting nine points clear with just 12 points to play for - but things may not look as healthy by the time they kick off in the capital city.

Roma team news: El Aynaoui suspended

Having scored last weekend, midfielder Neil El Aynaoui is now missing through suspension as Ukraine international striker Artem Dovbyk working his way back to full fitness.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Svilar; Mancini, Ndicka, Mario Hermoso; Rensch, Cristante, Pisilli, Wesley; Matias Soule, Dybala; Malen

Unavailable: El Aynaoui (Suspended), Ferguson (Injured)

Questionable: Celik (Injured), Kone (Injured), Pellegrini (Injured), Dovbyk (Fitness)

Fiorentina team news: Several doubts

Fiorentina have plenty of injury doubts for this one as Fabiano Parisi is potentially sidelined alongside Niccolo Fortini, Roberto Piccoli and key striker Moise Kean.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): David de Gea; Dodo, Pongracic, Ranieri, Kospo; Mandragora, Fagioli, Ndour; Harrison, Solomon, Gudmundsson

Unavailable: Lamptey (Injured)

Questionable: Gosens (Injured), Parisi (Fitness), Fortini (Fitness), Kean (Fitness), Piccoli (Injured)

Roma vs Fiorentina prediction

Fiorentina have been much-improved and much steadier as the season has gone on, with a more defensive and safety first approach. Roma will believe and hope that, with fans seemingly taking the side of Gasperini, they can latch on to a more positive mood within the fan base to keep the pressure up on the likes of AC Milan, Juventus and Como. It may not be an aesthetically pleasing clash in Rome but the Romans do remain favourites.
