Real Betis preview: Much-needed win

Real Betis managed to defeat Girona by three goals to two at Montilivi the other day. Viktor Tsygankov opened the scoring for the Catalans before strikes from Marc Roca and Abde Ez. Azzedine Ounahi then equalised again for Girona before Rodrigo Riquelme snatched the win for Betis.

Betis had been knocked out in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League before that, having led 2-0 in their second-leg against Braga. Their win against Girona did manage to end a five-match winless run of form across all competitions.

Real Madrid preview: Hard-fought and frustrated

Real Madrid come into this one on the back of a hard-fought 2-1 defeat of Deportivo Alaves at the Bernabeu the other day, courtesy of goals Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior before a late consolation scored by Toni Martinez.

Particularly in the second-half of that one, Los Blancos were bang average and the pressure remains on Alvaro Arbeloa after they were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League at the quarter-final stage by Bayern Munich last week.

Real Betis team news: Cucho a doubt

First-choice striker Cucho Hernandez is now a doubt for Betis this weekend due to a knee injury, while full-back duo Angel Ortiz and Junior Firpo are confirmed absentees.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Alex Valles; Aitor Ruibal, Marc Bartra, Natan, Victor Gomez; Amrabat, Marc Roca, Lo Celso; Pablo Fornals, Bakambu, Abde Ez

Unavailable: Angel Ortiz (Injured), Junior Firpo (Injured)

Questionable: Cucho (Injured)

Real Madrid team news: Several injuries

First-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois remains sidelined for Real Madrid but he has now been joined on the sidelines by both Eder Militao and Arda Guler.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Lunin; Alexander-Arnold, Rudiger, Dean Huijsen, Carreras; Fede Valverde, Tchouameni, Bellingham; Brahim Diaz, Mbappe, Vinicius Junior

Unavailable: Courtois (Injured), Eder Militao (Injured), Guler (Injured), Rodrygo (Injured)

Questionable: Raul Asencio (Illness)

Real Betis vs Real Madrid prediction

Real Madrid are way behind Barcelona at the top-of-the-table, hoping for the Blaugrana to slip up a couple of times before the Clasico next month. Their win against Alaves did end what was a four-match winless run of form across all competitions. Home advantage and the desire for an always famous win against Madrid should see Betis come out flying at La Cartuja and so both teams scoring would seem a good bet for this one down in Seville.
