We have something of a Madrid derby taking place in La Liga this weekend between two mid-table sides as Getafe make the short trip to Vallecas to take on Rayo Vallecano.

How to watch online: UK – Premier Sports / US – ESPN+

Rayo Vallecano Preview: On the beach

Rayo Vallecano, with the intense coaching of Andoni Iraola’s former assistant Inigo Perez, sit firmly in the middle-of-the-table in La Liga but have spent much of the campaign competing for the European spots but they have since drifted in recent weeks.

Whether it be because of a lack of motivation now that safety, their main priority, is assured or because of the intense style of Inigo Perez meaning there is some fatigue, Rayo have definitely taken their eye off the ball in the last month or so.

Getafe Preview: Hostile Getafe

Jose Bordalas is in his second spell in charge of Getafe and the visitors have rediscovered their hostile and aggressive approach that has made them so consistently difficult to play against as they sit firmly in the middle-of-the-table with five games of the campaign to go.

They do, though, come into this one on the back of three successive losses. The most recent of those defeats came in another Madrid derby at the Coliseum as Real Madrid perhaps undeservedly edged past Getafe by a goal to nil about ten days or so ago.

Rayo Vallecano Team News: Couple of suspensions

Much like their upcoming opponents, Rayo are dealing with a couple of suspensions for this one such as first-choice goalkeeper Auguste Batalla and right-back Andrei Ratiu. They also have two forwards that are doubtful, too, such as Randy Nteka and Sergio Camello.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Dani Cardenas; Balliu, Lejeune, Ciss, Alfonso Espino; Unai Lopez, Oscar Valentin; Isi Palazon, Pedro Diaz, Alvaro Garcia; Sergi Guardiola

Unavailable: Auguste Batalla (Suspended), Ratiu (Suspended), Mumin (Injured)

Questionable: Nteka (Injured), Sergio Camello (Injured)

Getafe Team News: Couple of suspensions

Getafe have a couple of suspension issues to deal with as the ever dependable Christantus Uche is unavailable for the visitors alongside Real Madrid loanee Alvaro Rodriguez, who had a late chance saved brilliantly by Thibaut Courtois in that loss to Los Blancos.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): David Soria; Juan Berrocal, Domingos Duarte, Omar Alderete; Djene, Mauro Arambarri, Luis Milla, Jorge Iglesias; Ramon Terrats, Juan Bernat; Borja Mayoral

Unavailable: Uche (Suspended), Alvaro (Suspended)

Questionable: Diego Rico (Injured), Nyom (Injured)

Rayo Vallecano vs Getafe Prediction

Rayo Vallecano’s 3-0 defeat in another Madrid derby against Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano in their most recent outing means that they have now won just one of their last ten matches as they slide away from the top eight and the European spots. Getafe are also enduring some poor form but appear a lot more focused than Rayo and they have picked up most of their points on the road this season so siding with Jose Bordalas’ side looks the way to go for this one at Vallecas.

Rayo Vallecano vs Getafe Tip: Double chance – Getafe to win or draw
