PSV Preview: Peter Bosz’ PSV

Defending Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven were once again dominant and rampant in the first few months of this campaign but they have since stuttered domestically with their 2-2 draw against Utrecht continuing that as they sit behind Ajax at the top of the Eredivisie table.

PSV have now managed just one victory in their last five matches across all competitions with that underwhelming run of form also including their 2-1 defeat to Juventus in the first-leg of this UEFA Champions League knockout playoff round tie last week.

Juventus Preview: Frustrating Juve

Thiago Motta is in charge of a Juve side that have been trying to play a more proactive style of football this time around but the Old Lady have often found it difficult in the final third with control of possession often leading to quite dull encounters involving Juventus.

That continued at the weekend but they did manage a vital victory in their top four push as they defeated Internazionale in the Derby d’Italia thanks to a late Francisco Conceicao winner and they have now enjoyed four successive victories ahead of this second-leg in the Netherlands.

PSV Team News: American absentees

PSV have three United States internationals all missing through injury for this week with full-back Sergino Dest sidelined alongside both Malik Tillman and Ricardo Pepi. Key centre-back Olivier Boscagli is also unavailable for the hosts.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Benitez; Ledezma, Flamingo, Obispo, Junior; Schouten, Veerman; Perisic, Saibari, Lang; De Jong

Unavailable: Karsdorp (Injured), Boscagli (Injured), Dest (Injured), Tillman (Injured), Pepi (Injured)

Questionable: Til (Injured)

Juventus Team News: Luiz now out

Former Aston Villa defensive midfielder Douglas Luiz has picked up a thigh injury and he is now unavailable for this week alongside defensive trio Bremer, Pierre Kalulu and Juan Cabal as well as Arkadiusz Milik.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Di Gregorio; Weah, Gatti, Veiga, Kelly; Koopmeiners, Locatelli; Gonzalez, McKennie, Yildiz; Kolo Muani

Unavailable: Bremer (Injured), Kalulu (Injured), Cabal (Injured), Luiz (Injured), Milik (Injured)

Questionable:

PSV vs Juventus Prediction

PSV have timed their poor run of form very badly ahead of the visit of Juventus this week. If this tie had happened in the autumn then the hosts would’ve fancied their chances of a potentially comfortable victory. They are now, though, in the midst of a really underwhelming run of form, whilst Juventus have discovered an effectiveness at both ends of the pitch so a double chance bet in favour of the Bianconeri would appear good value here.

PSV vs Juventus Tip: Double chance – Juventus to win or draw
