Paris Saint-Germain Preview: Treble still on
Paris Saint-Germain were nearing history a couple of weeks ago as they edged towards becoming the first ever French team to go unbeaten throughout a domestic season but they have now instead suffered back-to-back defeats in Ligue 1 against Nice and Strasbourg.
However, Luis Enrique’s Parisiens have been fully focused on the treble and that remains on in these final few weeks of the campaign with PSG leading in this semi-final having already won the French title and preparing for the Coupe de France final against Stade de Reims.
Arsenal Preview: Focus on Europe
Mikel Arteta has put all of Arsenal’s eggs in the UEFA Champions League basket for a couple of months now and it paid off in the quarter-finals as the Gunners defeated Real Madrid by five goals to one on aggregate last month.
They have, though, really taken their eye off the ball in the league and now their top five spot is in a slight bit of jeopardy with a 2-1 defeat at home to AFC Bournemouth at the weekend meaning they have now managed just one win in their last five matches in the league.
Paris Saint-Germain Team News: Dembele a doubt
Key man Ousmane Dembele, who has enjoyed a magnificent few months for Luis Enrique's side, is now a doubt for this second-leg, having scored the only goal of the game in the first-leg last week. The France international is a doubt for this one alongside South Korea international attacking midfielder Lee Kang-in.
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Vitinha, Neves, Ruiz; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia
Unavailable:
Questionable: Lee (Injured), Dembele (Injured)
Arsenal Team News: Partey returns but Odegaard a doubt
Mikel Arteta has said that Netherlands international defender Jurrien Timber and Norway international midfielder and club captain Martin Odegaard could well be unavailable for this one after both picked up recent injuries. Ghana international defensive midfielder Thomas Partey has returned from suspension having served it in the first-leg.
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Raya; White, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly; Rice, Partey, Merino; Saka, Trossard, Martinelli
Unavailable: Gabriel (Injured), Tomiyasu (Injured), Calafiori (Injured), Jorginho (Injured), Havertz (Injured), Jesus (Injured)
Questionable: Timber (Injured), Odegaard (Injured)
Paris Saint-Germain vs Arsenal Prediction
In 2025, PSG have defeated Manchester City and Aston Villa at the Parc des Princes but they were beaten 1-0 by Liverpool in the first-leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie in March. However, that loss to the Reds came massively against the run of play and they have dominated English sides at home this year. They now face an Arsenal side that have taken their eye off the ball in the league and it is difficult to switch it back on for a game that requires such intensity. If the hosts get off to a similar start as to last week in terms of their dominance then the game is likely to get away from the Gunners.
